Magic, one of the strongest forces in the universe, has finally met its match.
The ability to master time and space has been coveted for ages. The ultimate power and control that came with mastering such an all-encompassing thing has tempted thousands over the course of history itself. To change the past, control the present, and dominate the future - it's a promise too heady to be ignored. While the rest of the world was struggling against Voldemort and the petty squabble of blood purity and political domination, a darker wizard had a darker plan: to control time, to gain complete control over the universe itself.
As the rest of the wizarding world was caught up in a bitter battle, a wizard by the name of Eliam quietly gathered the tools and the followers he needed to pull off the greatest power play in the history of humankind. Harry Potter and Voldemort polarized Britain while Eliam conducted his research and slowly began to build momentum. As Voldemort was touting Harry Potter's seeming demise at Hogwarts, Eliam was putting the finishing touches on his plan, and not six months after Voldemort's defeat, he finally put it into motion.
But things didn't go as planned. The magic was too powerful for Eliam to handle and as the spell reached its full potential, his body was destroyed and the fabric of time and space itself was torn.
It was a small rip at first: events would repeat themselves, small glitches like that. But as the rip widened, other things started to happen. People would appear who had never existed before - people from alternate universes. And as the rip turned into a chasm, Eliam's former followers began jockeying for positions of power - who was going to rule this new universe as it created itself? The newcomers became targets; victims of Eliam's followers as they demanded information and tried to streamline their new universe. The Ministry for Magic decided something had to be done - a wizard had fouled up the space-time continuum and so they decided they needed to take responsibility for those whose lives he had irreparably damaged.
And so the Ministry has began relocating newcomers to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At first, the castle and its grounds served as nothing more than a shelter for the misplaced, but as more and more began to show up and as the magic began to become more and more unstable, it became clear that Hogwarts would need to become a more permanent location for those who continued to arrive. So now, the Ministry has made the difficult decision to institute a more permanent plan for handling the misplaced newcomers. Despite their misgivings, they have decided that the newcomers must live among the students and professors, as well as attend their own classes to familiarize themselves with the magical world they are now stuck in.
The fabric of time is changing and the wizarding world is struggling to uphold the laws of space and time. Eliam's followers are gaining in power and it's only a matter of time before they make a play for Hogwarts.
